ONE PEAK RACE REPORT, RESULTS & PICS

One Peak 2012 146One Peak of Hetton – Yes it was back again for another season for riders to test their legs out on the One Peak of Hetton 1.4 mile course. Scot ran the course in an anti clockwise direction so the riders had a helping hand from the strong breeze to reach the top every lap 🙂 In the Main race the drizzle kept off and the sun even came out for the laps few laps. There was a pack of fiver riders for most of the race with a couple dropping off near the end. On the bell lap C Ash and C May were wheel to wheel with C May (Velo Club Edinburgh) taking the win on the line 8 laps 51.44 with C Ash (Blackhawckbikes) second 51.45, M Graham (Dirt Wheels Cycles) coming in third 53.01. There was close battles between small packs of riders making a great race. Evey rider who signed on got a goodie then after the refreshments they all got a prize. In the U16/14/12’s race J Howard (Cleveland Wheelers CC) led from the start to cover 4 laps in 28.18, A Brown (Infinity Cycles) second then P Errington (Hetton Hawks CC) third. The firsts race of the day was on a shortened course and A Brown U10 (Hetton Hwaks CC) led from the start and had a very strong race covering 5 lpas in 11.54, second was Lititia Hay U8 (Hetton Hawks CC). ** UPDATE** Everything is sorted & ready to go for this Sunday. The course will be set on the Hill side of the Country Park (same as Autumn Series) using the best traks there is. The rain on Monday & Tuesday has softened the ground but we will avoid any mud/soft areas as best as possible. There is a box full of spot prizes so no one should go away emptied handed. There is some lovely cake as well !

Directions- from the A1M turn off junction 62 and take the A690 towards Sunderland. Then take the slip road signposted A182 for Hetton Le Hole, continue along the road (Hetton Country Park is signposted with Brown tourist signs) until you see Barclays bank on your right. At the this junction turn left into Caroline Street, at the end turn right/straight on onto Downs Pit Lane. Hetton Lyons is on your right.

Updated – WINTER SERIES RD1 Newton Aycliffe- Report, Pics & Results

Rd 1 9.9.12 044Well its called the Winter Series but riders were racing in best weather conditions we have had all summer with temperatures hitting 22 degress around the course with a breeze in places and dust in the air. The event was based at Woodham Academy and set within the grounds, comprising of  mixed terrain and a couple of ditches to test the riders skills out. The day started with the U12’s doing a shortned course around the top field with B Dowson 1st U12 leading from the start and held a good strong gap inc lapping the littler ones, 2nd J Wilson U12 followed through  then 3rd A Brown U10. The second race was the U14/16’s with N Hamilton U14 taking 1st place who pulled away from the start and held the same gap for the duration of the race,  2nd J Anderson U14, 3rd T Tanfield U14 with L Kotch 1st U16. The Sen race had a very fast start from the top of the field with a good field of strong riders taking on the 1.32mile course. After a couple of laps C Ash had pulled a gap from A Nixon with the rest of field forming smaller groups and having good battles between themselves. At the end it was a blackhawkbikes wipe out with C Ash 1st, A Nixon 2nd & D Binks 3rd. E Davidson was 1st Jun, R Powell 1st V40 & I Robson 1st V50. Full results are in the results section now. ** update ** Its going to be sunny and red hot so take your sun tan cream and plenty to drink. 22 degress during the main race! Make the most of it while you can. This is a new venue for CX and will be a fantastic start to a new season of racing within the NE. There will be three races on the day for all ages and abilities on any type of offroad bike. Registration is on the day so turn up early with a few £’s in your pocket. Full details are in the Events Info section to your right.  There is an increase in number of cash priIzes we pay out on the day this season to 16no. Directions-turn off the A167 (North or South), onto the B6443 (opposite Aycliffe School). Turn right into Washington Crescent (two entrances), and follow road  around until Wolsey Close (signpost for Woodham College). Turn in and then left through college gates. MBE GRAND FINAL REPORT

Rd 4 2012 015Busy nights racing at the Country Park with 59 riders warming themselves up ready for the start of winter series this Sunday @ Newton Aycliffe. The weather and ground conditions were fantastic on the night and the course was altered from Rd 3 in places just to give it a little mix up of all terrain types.  Well done to A Martin Cestria Cycles 1st on the night & overall winner of the series, young L Parkin Infinity Cycles was overall runner up of the series by one point from K Haswell Cestrria Cycles.  T Mein MTS winner on the night and overall U14 winner. B Dowson Hetton Hawks was overall U12 winner & A Brown Hetton Hawks winner on the night and overall U10 winner with L Hay Hetton Hawks overall U8 winner. Overall there was 80 riders competing over series with 29 league finishers. Many thanks to John & Co from Springboard for the use of the land and facilities.  Rd 3 2012 080Hetton Lyons Country Park was looking good and so was the evenings weather. 46 riders turned up on the night to battle around the longer more easy flowing 1.5mile course which was different to the first two rounds. Well done to A Martin (overall winner of the series now), T Mein (overall U14 winner) & A Brown (overall U10 winner) for winning their races.  N Hamilton & L Hay won the spot prizes. Rd 2 Arrans 021Cracking nights racing @ Hetton Lyons Country Park in a much better evenings weather. 44 riders turned up on the night to battle around the 1.4mile course which was run in opposite direction to Rd 1.
