Vet 50 – B Kipling 5th, C Featherstone 9th. U14 – E Brady 7th. U16 – J Edmond 21st. Jun – A Martin 11th. Well done to the 8 finishers and for travelling the near 400mile road trip.

The Columba Chemo Classic charity Sportive is on the 13th Nov 2010, 65 miles with 4500ft climbing leaving and finishing @ Richmond Cricket Club, more info here – http://www.colombachemoclassic.org.uk  UPDATE – well done to the 223 riders who completed the course on a dry but cold day.

Rd 4 Preston 2010 107What another fantstic turnout, a recored breaking 117 riders on a dry day for a change but the overnight / early morning heavy rain made for very testing ground and bike conditions. A full race report and links to the photos is in the NEWS section. Many thanks to Alan Nixon and all his helpers on the day for a fantastic event. Preston Park – here we come

Front imageRd 4 Sun 7th Nov 2010 @ Preston Park, we return to this venue which was brought back into the calender again last year by Alan and it was a fantastic event last season which made it one of the most popular. Its a great venue / course and is a great day out for all inc kids as there is a cafe, two play parks, animals to have look around inc the Museum/Hall as well if you have time. Oh and free carparking as well. Full info inc directions etc and COURSE MAP are in the EVENT INFO section. Alans update – “The course is similar to last year but run in reverse and misses out the bridge that caused a few problems. There is a new climb to replace bridge section for all the climbers out there.”

Record turnout for a Good Old Mudfest @ Hetton

Rd 3 Hetton 2010 173There was a fantastic turount for Rd 3 of the NECCL Winter Series 10/11 with 111 riders competing over the days action. The course was testing plenty of riders skills to the max and tyres grip were pushed to the limits, some times too far ! Many thanks to Geoff, Jason, Dave and helpers on the day for a fantastic event.

Well done to the four riders who did the Nat Trophy Rd2 @ Ipswich Vet 40- 21st S Brazier MTS, U16- 25th J Edmond Ferryhill Wheelers, U14- 7th E Brady MTS, Sen- 34th M Lewis MTS. That was some road trip of nearly 600 miles return. Nat Trophy Rd 3 14th Nov @ Mallory Park – there are 8no NE riders entered so good luck.

RACE DAY – HAPPY HALLOWEEN

halloween_crossYes its race day and Hetton is looking ok. There hasent been hardly any rain this week so Hetton is looking good. The forecast is looking reasonable as well but there might be some light rain showers for the last race. Cold though so wrap up warm and dont forget the clocks have changed as well ! Please allow plenty time to get signed on etc and if you are a TLI Member dont forget your card. Dont forget to stop for the main presentation after the last race as you could win a spot prize carried over from the Darlington event. Rd 3 Barnesbury Bogieman Halloween CX Race

Hallowen crossNECCL WINTER SERIES RD 3 Sun 31st Oct @ Hetton Lyons Country Park. Barnesbury Bogieman Halloween Event ! Yes we are running a  Halloween Special CX round with optional fancy dress if you wish. There will be 3no Spot prizes for the most frightening U12’s as well as all the normal cash prizes for all cat’s on the day. Full Event Information is in the Event Info Section inc the best course map you will ever see ! The course has a fantastic mix of all types of terrain and there is a seperate course for the U12’s. Also the spotHallowen cross 2 prizes from Rd 2 will be presented as well at the end.  The Premier / Inter / Sportif Leagues will be set up after Halloween cross 3this Rd based on the riders results so far this season and from previous years overall positions. Oh dont think the budget will run to Pumpkin pits and Pumpkin markers but who knows ! there may be one or two lurking in the darkest wooded singletrack sections !!

It was the last Nutcracker of the 2010 Series on Sunday @ Hamsterley Forest. Alex had a great little course for all the Sweatmonsters check out the photos here http://picasaweb.google.com/scotbrown1/NutcrackerRd6Hamsterley whilst Rd 6 Hamsterley 100the adults were giving themselves a good beasting around a more testing longer course inc the old Hamsterley Hammer ford crossing ! great day out and some lovely sun but chilly in the wind.

Northern Downhill Championships Final @ Kielder on Sun Oct 24th. They will be using part of the black rated Deadwater Trail, which is a really tough challenge, especially when you are racing against the clock . “The very quickest will be aiming to complete a run in about two minutes and 40 seconds, which takes a fair dollop of skill and courage said organiser Carl Davison”.

Also if you havent heard that Kudu Bikes in Hawes has ‘closed down for good’ last week so any riders out there in the NE who recieved any Gift Vouchers as prizes from any races you may have a hard job spending them! Times are hard out there so please support your LBS when you can

Quiet Day @ Nat’s

There was a few NE riders taking on the Challenge of the Nat Trophy, in the picElite Men – 14th S Wearmoth, 29th S Ward, 38th K Murray, Dns/Dnf M Lewis. Vet Men 16th S Brazier, Dns/Dnf R Atkinson. Junior Dnf/Dns A Martin. U14 Girls 8th E Brady. They dont do U12’s results so not sure if young T Mein competed / placed.

Also there is a busy weekend coming up soon with the last Rd of the Keilder Marathon Series Oktoberfest on Sat 16th Oct approx 50k, pre entry & day entry is still avaialble. Also on Sun 17th Oct is the last round of the Nutcracker Series @ the local venue of Hamsetrley Forest– by all accounts it is going to be a ‘Cracking’ course, again pre entry & day entry are available, check out their website for full details.

20101003-jonathan-noble-cross-150Well I hope everyone has recovered from the monsoon last Sunday and dried everything out! This weekend sees the first Rd of the Nat Trophy down in Abergavenny. The following NE riders are doing the 600 mile round trip and wish them all the best R Atckinson, S Brazier, A Martin, E Brady, K Murray, M Lewis, S Ward, S Wearmouth & probably T Mein.
