About Us

Our Objectives

The North East Cyclo Cross League’s aim is to promote the sport of cyclo cross in the North East of England 🙂 and to encourage participation by riders of all ability.

As well as providing competitive racing up to the highest level, the North East Cyclo Cross League provides a good opportunity for inexperienced riders to sample competitive cycle sport. Entry fees are modest, the events are not of excessive duration and riders can compete either on a mountain bike or more specialised cyclo cross bike. NECCL runs events throughout the region so there may well be an event near you. Our website was launched in 2003. It will provide you with all the latest Cyclo Cross news from the region as well as results, contacts, race directions, changes in venue etc. The website is updated regularly during the race season with the latest results and information.

Who are we?

The North East Cyclo Cross League is a non-profit making association consisting of competitors, race organisers and voluntary officials from the region.

In 2004, NECCL broke away from British Cycling. This enabled us to run our races under The League International, reducing our race entry fees to better encourage grass-roots participation in the sport. NECCL was formally constituted by a General Meeting of riders at the end of the 2004-5 season. This assigned membership of the league to our committed riders and gave them voting rights and ultimate control of the business and finances of the association. A copy of our constitution may be obtained from the Secretary.

Our organisers have a proven track record of organising Cyclo Cross Races in the North East of England: this includes organisation of the TLI National Cyclo Cross Championships in 2007. Summer Cyclo Cross racing has also been introduced in the region by us.
