Muddy Brown’s Events

Rd 4 8th September 2010 @ Sports Centre, Meadowfield

Update - The course has been set ! it will be run anti clockwise direction. The course is alittle more technical than Rd 3, with a few different sections added to challenge your skills. The series is aimed at getting riders back into the swing of things. There is a great mix again of wide flat sections, uphills, descents, off chamber corners and singletrack sections through the reserve at the bottonm end of the course (both climbing & descending). The overall lap length is approx 1.50 miles with approx 360ft climbing per lap. The going is hard and very fast. There is no soft muddy sections and the grass is very short so Meadowfield is  in perfect condition. Remeber to arrive in plenty time to get signed on and sorted out and if you are a TLI Member please bring your current Licence otherwise you will have to pay the day membership fee. Carparking and Registration will be signposted on the night.

RULES – DONT NOT RIDE ON TARMAC PATHS. DO NOT RIDE ON GRAVEL BRIDLEWAY. DO NOT CUT CORNERS. DO NOT RIDE OVER FOOTBALL PITCHES. DO NOT RIDE THROUGH THE LONG GRASS ON BOTTOM SECTION OF THE COURSE. NO CYCLING SHOES INSIDE SPORTS CENTRE PLEASE.

I have had several enquiries if Mtb’s are allowed and the simple answer is you can ride any bike you like as long as it is suitable for general offroad use, you could even do it on a Hybrid with muti use tyres. Another question that I have been asked “can less experienced riders take part”, again the simple answer is it dosent matter what ability you are or what age, you are all more than welcome to ride at your own pace. You can gain experience & skills throughtout the series to progress onto the WINTER SERIES RD 1 Sun 12th Spetember

Rd 3 1st September 2010@ Sports Centre, Meadowfield

Race Report - Another fantastic evenings racing in the later summer heat and very dry / dusty conditions. Once again there was a fantastic turnout with a thumping 64 riders taking on the challenge of Sports Centres grounds. The course had a great mix of singletrack, climbing, descending, climbing, off chamber corners and some short steep technical sections to negotiate. The first race was the U16/14/12/10/8/6 with a huge field of eager kids raring to go. The separate U10’s course was longer and more testing for them after a couple of warm up rounds at Hetton. Ben M took the win just in front of Jack D. Arran B had a great battle with Patrick G for most of the race taking the win on the 180 turn just before the finishing line. The U16/14/12 did the full sen course and Luke P was flying yet again with James E pulling through the field of riders after missing the start. Thomas M is getting stronger each week beating Josh M & Matthew W. Angus B had a big fall early in the race and pulled through strong to catch Emma B up in the last lap with Emma holding strong right to the end. Well done to all who competed. There will be a presentation to all the kids who will have completed the League (min 3 from 4). Onto the main race again there was a strong field of riders and the dust was flying from there tyres. Steven W led from the start with Tony F stuck like glue to his back wheel for the whole race and Steven W held the led sprinting in to take the win with less than a bikes length between them. Again Adam M was charging around on his MTB taking 3rd place. The steep short sections tested quite a few riders skills to the max but that what its all about. Again there will be a presentation after the last race of the season for those who will complete the min 3 from 4 races to complete the League. Grand Final Wed 8th Sept @ Meadowfield Sports Centre. Please arrive in plenty time to allow for signing before your race and be at the start line 5mins before please. We are hoping to be running to time again next week as we have the Presentations and its starting to get dark earlier ! Riders who have left their Licence, they will be ready to collect next week.

Rd 2 25th August 2010 @ Hetton Lyons Country Park

Race Report – Rd 2 was based at Hetton Lyons Country Park and the course was run in the opposite direction to Rd 1 – anti clockwise. Again the weather stopped dry and less windy on the top but the corners were getting tricky later on in the race with dew! The first half of the course was altered to take in some more technical sections to test & improve riders skills. Then the second half was similar to Rd 1 taking in large climbs and some long downhills. The first race was the keen youngsters and a fresh face Luke U16 took a clear win with James U14 following through for second. Thomas U12 pulled away from Emma U12 taking third. In the U10’s race Paul had a strong ride to take 1st and Arran U8 again on fire taking a very strong 2nd place. Well done to all the kids and they all enjoyed the goodie box!

Onto the main race the course was longer this week- 1.6 miles and more climbing 230ft per lap, this slowed the Winner Steven Ward down a little to 6 min 30sec laps. Steven led from the start and took a clear win, but the battle for 2nd Martin Adam & 3rd  Malcolm Lewis was very close each lap but Adam pulled away on penultimate lap. First Vet in was Rob Smith with most the main field completing 7 laps, followed by cake and refreshments.

Well done to everyone who finished and hope to see you all at Rd 3 @ Meadowfield Sports Centre Wednesday 1st Sept.

Rd 1 18th August 2010 @ Hetton Lyons Country Park

Race Report – Well what a cracker of a start to a new season with 56 riders taking on the challenge of Hetton Lyons in a warm dry evening. The first race was the U16/14/12, the U12’s were set off first on the full course with the U16/14 chasing them down after starting 1min behind. It took Luke a few laps to catch Thomas as he was flying. Emma also had a flying start but Angus caught up and pulled through near the end of the race. The U10’s did a smaller loop and Jack led from the start taking the win. Arran wasn’t far behind Ben and came in a strong third. Well done to all the youngsters, hope you enjoyed your goodies afterwards.

Onto the main race there was a fantastic mix of abilities from the Elite Mr Wearmouth on the front row to newcomers to the sport who wanted a taste of what its all about. Stuart took a convincing win lapping in just over 5mins per lap with Steven following through followed very closely by Tony. Young Adam also had a fantastic race on his MTB and pulled away from John with a couple of laps to go. Well done to everyone who finished and hope to see you all at Rd 2 @ Hetton Wednesday 25th Aug.
